The best green light for hog hunting, from budget kits to long range

Why hunters run green

Every light on this page offers green, and six of the seven feeder lights we rank are green only. Hunters give two different reasons for it. One is the hog's eye: pigs have two types of color cones, peaking in the blue and green-yellow range (Neitz & Jacobs, 1989). Hunters use red and green lights on the theory that hogs see those colors poorly; how hogs actually respond varies, and we haven't found a field study that settles it. That's the honest state of the evidence, and it's why this page doesn't promise a green light won't be noticed.

The other reason is on the spec sheets. In every light we rank that publishes per-color figures, green claims more reach than red. Part of that is how brightness is measured: lumens are weighted to the human eye, and NIST notes our eyes, in daytime at least, "are most sensitive to greenish-yellow light" (NIST, the candela). So some of green's lumen lead is built into the unit itself. The throw claims point the same way, but no maker says how it measured them. How we picked

Every pick is a gun- or scope-mountable light that offers green, confirmed on Amazon in September 2026. We scored them on our hunting-light rubric: colors and intensity control (25%), throw claim and beam control (20%), mounting and zero retention (20%), power (15%), build and weather resistance (10%) and value (10%). Then, for the order within close scores, we looked hardest at what each maker publishes about its green specifically. All seven are in the under-$500 budget tier.

A few green-capable lights didn't make this list on purpose. The Sniper Hog Lights Hyperion 66 claims even more green reach (1,770 yards) and leads our overall best hog hunting lights list; here we lead with the 50, which gives up 430 yards of that claim for about 3 ounces less weight on the scope. The Wicked A75iC adds IR you'd be paying for without using, the LUMENSHOOTER A8Plus has a single brightness setting, and the VASTFIRE Predator Light has a fixed beam. Green by the numbers

This table pulls out only what each maker publishes about green. Several don't break their figures out by color, and we've said so rather than guess.

Two things stand out. First, the Hyperions are the only lights here that publish green-specific output, throw and runtime (2.5 hours at full power for visible colors). Second, green's lead over red is consistent where makers show both: 1,340 vs 750 yards on the Hyperion 50 (about 1.8 times), 1,130 vs 650 on the Hyperion 40 (about 1.7 times) and 452 vs 375 on the KL52Plus (about 1.2 times). Those are claims, but they're claims made by the same maker about the same light, which makes the comparison fair.

1. Sniper Hog Lights Hyperion 50 Gun Hunters Kit (green module)

The best-documented green on the list. Sniper Hog Lights claims 1,150 lumens and 1,340 yards for the green module, publishes a runtime and a 5-year warranty on the housing and module, and pairs it with a dial dimmer, lockable focus from flood to spot and the Predator Pro mount for 35 mm, 30 mm and 1 in. tubes or a Weaver/Picatinny rail. It weighs about 17 ounces. The kit ships with one module, so make sure the one you order is green; other colors cost extra. No IP rating is published.

2. Sniper Hog Lights Hyperion 40 Gun Hunters Kit

The same green output claim, dimmer, focus and mount in a 1.75 in. head at about 15 ounces, with 1,130 yards of claimed green throw. It scores a hair below the 50, mostly because its reach claim is shorter; if weight on the scope matters more to you than the extra 210 yards, it's the better buy.

3. Wicked Lights A67iC 3-Color-in-1

Green with red and white in the same head, switched by rotating a center-axis LED system that Wicked says keeps your zero. The rheostat tail cap brings any color up from dim, and the gun light kit includes two 18650 batteries, a charger, a quick-detach mount and a scope-tube Picatinny mount. Wicked doesn't publish lumens or a per-color throw figure; the listing's 400-yard visibility claim covers the light as a whole. Pick it if you want green most nights and red or white some nights, without carrying a second light.

4. Wicked Lights W403iC Deluxe Night Hunting Kit

Wicked's interchangeable-LED kit: green, red and white modules in the box (an 850 nm IR module is offered), the same rheostat, zoom focus from spot to flood, a coil cord tail cap for pressure-style control, and a mount for 1 in. and 30 mm tubes. It ranks below the A67iC because changing color means unscrewing a module, so recheck where the beam sits after every swap.

5. Odepro KL52Plus

The most weather-sealed option here, with a published IP68 rating, plus four color modules, adjustable focus, a Picatinny mount and a quick-release scope mount. Its green claim is 452 yards on a spot beam. The base kit's pressure switch is momentary-on only, so there's no dimming unless you buy Odepro's stepless-switch bundle.

6. LUMENSHOOTER D8A Dimmable

Dimmable green (and red, white and IR) from a silent pressure switch, behind a 69 mm bezel with zoom focus. Its 700-yard claim isn't broken out by color, and the listing leaves out battery type, runtime, an IP rating and any windage or elevation adjustment on the mount.

7. VASTFIRE 350 Yard LED Green Flashlight Kit

The only dedicated green light on the list: a 40 mm bezel, 6.2 ounces, IPX6, two mounts (Picatinny rail and scope), two rechargeable batteries and a USB charger, with a 2-year kit warranty and lifetime coverage on the pressure switch. The listing contradicts itself on throw (350 yards in the title, 250 in the feature text), the beam is fixed and no dimming is published. Plan on it for close work over a feeder.

Dedicated green or multi-color?

Only one light here is green and nothing else. The rest either rotate between colors in one head (Wicked's A67iC) or swap LED modules (the Hyperions, the W403iC, the KL52Plus and the D8A). A dedicated light is simpler and lighter. A multi-color light hedges your bet on the color question, which is worth something when the science can't settle it.

The catch with module lights is the zero. When the LED module comes out and a new one goes in, the beam may not sit exactly where it did. Wicked makes its center-axis design the selling point for exactly this reason, and says the zero holds when you switch. Whatever you buy, check the beam against your reticle before you hunt. What to look for in a green hog light

1. A green-specific figure. A maker that publishes throw or output for green alone (Sniper Hog Lights, Odepro) tells you more than a single number for the whole light.
2. Dimming. A dimmer lets you run green at less than full power. The Hyperions, the Wicked kits and the D8A publish one; the KL52Plus base kit and the VASTFIRE don't.
3. Zoom or focus. Flood for a close feeder, spot for a far edge. The VASTFIRE's beam is fixed.
4. A mount for your scope or rail. Wicked: 1 in. and 30 mm tubes. Hyperion Predator Pro: 35 mm, 30 mm, 1 in. or a Weaver/Picatinny rail. KL52Plus and VASTFIRE: a Picatinny mount plus a scope mount.
5. Runtime you can plan around. Only Sniper Hog Lights publishes it here (2.5 hours at full power for visible colors). Carry a spare battery.
6. Weight. About 6 ounces for the VASTFIRE to about 17 for the Hyperion 50.

Setting up a green light on your scope

1. Check your scope's tube size before you order. Wicked's mounts fit 1 in. and 30 mm tubes. The Hyperion Predator Pro mount also takes 35 mm tubes or a Weaver/Picatinny rail. The KL52Plus and VASTFIRE ship with both a Picatinny mount and a scope mount.
2. Mount it as the maker shows, close to the scope, with the pressure switch or tail cap where your hand can reach it without shifting your hold.
3. Set the focus for the distance you shoot most, from flood at a close feeder to spot for a far edge. The Hyperion's focus locks; the others' zoom heads don't publish a lock.
4. Line the beam up with your reticle at that distance. The Predator Pro mount adjusts for windage and elevation, which makes this easier; the D8A's universal mount publishes no such adjustment.
5. Recheck after any module swap, and charge a spare battery before a long sit. The Hyperions' published runtime is 2.5 hours at full power.

Which green light for which hunter

• You want the best-documented green: Hyperion 50, ordered with the green module.
• You want less weight on the rifle: Hyperion 40, about 15 ounces.
• You want red and white a twist away: Wicked A67iC.
• You hunt in the wet: Odepro KL52Plus, the only IP68 rating here.
• You want dimming and IR on a value budget: LUMENSHOOTER D8A.
• You only need green over a close feeder: VASTFIRE 350 Yard Green.

What your budget buys

All seven lights sit in the under-$500 tier, so a green light is never the expensive part of a night rig. Within the tier, the differences come down to three things you can see on the spec sheets:

• Entry level (VASTFIRE 350 Green): a complete green kit with two mounts and a real water rating, but a fixed beam, no dimming and a contradictory throw claim.
• Value multi-color kits (Odepro KL52Plus, LUMENSHOOTER D8A): four colors including IR and zoom focus. Pick the D8A for dimming or the KL52Plus for IP68.
• Wicked Lights (A67iC, W403iC): rheostat dimming and a published lifetime housing warranty.
• Sniper Hog Lights (Hyperion 40, 50): the most published green data, the most adjustable mount and the longest green claims.

Green light vs an IR illuminator

A green light is for a regular scope: you see the hog in green light through ordinary glass. An infrared illuminator is for a night-vision device. Odepro's own listing for its IR model says the IR850 light "can not be seen by naked eyes" and tells you to use it with a night-vision device. Several lights here (the KL52Plus, the D8A, the Hyperions and the W403iC) offer an 850 nm IR module as well, which is useful if you plan to add night vision later. Mistakes to avoid

• Ordering a Hyperion kit in the wrong color. The kit ships with one module.
• Comparing throw claims across brands. Nobody publishes a test method; compare within a brand.
• Skipping the zero check after a module swap. Confirm the beam against your reticle.
• Believing any light is invisible to hogs. No field study we found supports that for green.
• Buying for reach you'll never use. More claimed throw usually means a bigger, heavier head.
