Best hog hunting lights for your rifle or scope

Hogs that feed after dark leave you two ways to see them: an optic that sees heat or infrared, or a light. A light is the cheaper of the two by a wide margin. The catch is that a light only helps if it puts enough beam on the animal to identify it, stays zeroed on the scope, and comes on the way you want it to. This list ranks seven scope- and rail-mounted lights on exactly those things.

We haven't tested these units; scores come from published specs and the rubric on our How We Choose page. Every figure on this page links to the maker's page or the product listing, and every throw or lumen number is labeled as the maker's claim, because none of these makers publishes how it measured them.

How we picked

We started from every gun-mountable hog light we could confirm on Amazon in September 2026, then scored each one on our published rubric for hunting lights: colors and intensity control (25%), throw claim and beam control (20%), mounting and zero retention (20%), power (15%), build and weather resistance (10%) and value (10%). A light that doesn't publish a spec loses points on it; "not published" never counts as a pass.

All seven picks sit in the under-$500 budget tier, so the value score compares them only with each other. The evidence side by side

Two patterns jump out of the table. First, the makers that publish the most (Sniper Hog Lights on throw, lumens, runtime and warranty; Wicked Lights on warranty and mounting) score best, because a buyer can check what they're getting. Second, the budget kits publish throw claims but leave out battery type, runtime or an IP rating, which is where their points go.

The picks in context

1. Sniper Hog Lights Hyperion 66 Gun Hunters Kit

The Hyperion 66 has the longest published throw claims on this list in every color: 1,770 yards in green, 1,600 in white and 1,150 in red. It pairs that with a dial dimmer, lockable focus from flood to spot, and the Predator Pro mount, which adjusts for windage, elevation and height, fits 35 mm, 30 mm and 1 in. tubes or a Weaver/Picatinny rail, and clears objectives up to 60 mm. Sniper Hog Lights also publishes per-color lumens, a runtime (2.5 hours for visible colors at full power) and a 5-year warranty on the housing and light module.

Two things to know before you buy. The kit ships with one color module, so choose the color you want when you order. And it's the heaviest light here at about 20 ounces, on top of a scope. If your shots are at feeder distance, you're paying in weight for reach you may never use.

2. Sniper Hog Lights Hyperion 40 Gun Hunters Kit

The same dimmer, lockable focus and Predator Pro mount in a 1.75 in. head at about 15 ounces. Its claims are shorter (1,130 yards green, 980 white, 650 red), but they're still among the longest published on this list, and the head is an inch smaller. If the 66 feels like too much light on your rifle, this is the one to look at. The middle Hyperion, the 50, sits between them at about 17 ounces; it leads our green hog light rankings.

3. Wicked Lights A75iC 4-Color-in-1

The only light on this list with red, green, white and 850 nm infrared built into one head. Wicked's center-axis design rotates the LEDs rather than swapping modules, and the maker says the zero holds across all four colors. Every color, including the IR, runs through a rheostat tail cap that turns on at any intensity level, and the kit includes a coil cord tail cap. It ranks below the Hyperions because Wicked publishes no throw figure, lumens, runtime or IP rating for it. If you hunt with a digital night-vision scope some nights and a visible light on others, it saves you a second light.

4. Wicked Lights A67iC 3-Color-in-1

The A75iC without the IR channel: red, green and white in the same center-axis head, the same rheostat, zoom focus from spot to flood, and a 400-yard visibility claim on the listing. The gun light kit includes two 18650 batteries, a charger, a quick-detach mount and a Picatinny mount for 1 in. and 30 mm scope tubes. Wicked's published warranty covers the housing for life and the LEDs and electronics for 3 years. For most hunters who don't own night vision, this is the most complete visible-light kit here.

5. Odepro KL52Plus

Four color modules including 850 nm IR, adjustable focus, a Picatinny mount and a quick-release scope mount, and an IP68 rating, the strongest water rating published by any light on this list. Its per-color claims are modest next to the Hyperions (452 yards green, 400 white, 375 red). The base kit's pressure switch is momentary-on only, so there's no dimming unless you buy Odepro's stepless-switch bundle, and Odepro's own site didn't load when we checked, so the specs rest on the Amazon listing.

6. LUMENSHOOTER D8A Dimmable

Four swappable colors including 850 nm IR, all dimmable from a silent pressure switch, behind a 69 mm bezel with zoom focus and a 700-yard claim. That's a lot of features for a value kit. What holds it back is what the listing leaves out: battery type, runtime, an IP rating, and any windage or elevation adjustment on the universal mount.

7. VASTFIRE Predator Light (Red, Green, White)

The cheapest complete three-color kit here: interchangeable red, green and white LEDs, two rechargeable batteries, a USB charger, a Picatinny mount and a 1 in. to 30 mm scope mount. It publishes per-color runtime claims (5 hours red, 3.5 white, 2.5 green) that most lights here don't. The trade-offs are a fixed beam with no zoom, no published dimming and IPX4 splash resistance. Start here if the budget is tight and your shots are close.

Also considered: the dedicated-red Wicked Lights A55iC (it heads the red side of our red vs green light comparison), the interchangeable-LED Wicked W403iC, the four-color LUMENSHOOTER A8Plus (one brightness setting only), the Odepro KL52 MAX Red (no scope mount in the red-only kit) and the VASTFIRE 350 Yard Green kit.

Which color to run

Every light here offers more than one color, so the color question is really about how you hunt. Pigs have two types of color cones, peaking in the blue and green-yellow range (Neitz & Jacobs, 1989). Hunters use red and green lights on the theory that hogs see those colors poorly; how hogs actually respond varies, and we haven't found a field study that settles it.

What the specs do show is a trade-off. In every light here that publishes per-color figures, green claims more reach than red: 1,770 vs 1,150 yards on the Hyperion 66, 452 vs 375 on the KL52Plus, 350 vs 200 on the VASTFIRE. White is there for identification. IR is only useful behind a night-vision optic. Spotlight or gun light?

A lot of people searching for the best night hunting spotlight need two lights, not one. A light on the rifle points wherever the muzzle points, so scanning a pasture with it means sweeping a loaded rifle across everything you look at. The safer routine is to scan with a handheld or head-worn light, find and identify the eyes, then bring the rifle and its light up for the shot.

If you want a scanning light that matches a gun light's colors, Wicked Lights makes the ScanPro iC GEN4, a red, green and white headlamp with brightness control. Its warranty is one year, much shorter than Wicked's gun lights, and Wicked's warranty page links a ScanPro recall notice without details, so confirm with the maker before you buy. What to look for in a hog hunting light

1. Dimming. A rheostat or dial dimmer lets you bring the light up slowly instead of snapping it on at full power. The Wicked lights, both Hyperions and the D8A publish one. The KL52Plus base kit, the VASTFIRE and the LUMENSHOOTER A8Plus don't.
2. How the color changes. Wicked's center-axis lights rotate the LEDs inside one head, and Wicked says the zero holds when you switch. Module lights (Hyperion, Odepro, LUMENSHOOTER, VASTFIRE) change color by swapping the LED module, so check where the beam sits on your scope after every swap.
3. A mount that fits your scope. Wicked's scope mounts fit 1 in. and 30 mm tubes. The Hyperion Predator Pro mount adds 35 mm tubes and a rail option. If your scope has a 34 mm or 35 mm tube, check the mount before anything else.
4. Beam control. A zoom or focus that runs from flood to spot lets one light cover a close feeder and a far fence line. The VASTFIRE's fixed beam can't do that.
5. Power you can plan around. 18650 or 21700 rechargeable cells, a charger in the box and a published runtime. Only Sniper Hog Lights and VASTFIRE publish runtime among these picks. Carry a spare battery on long sits.
6. Weight on the scope. The Hyperions run from about 15 to about 20 ounces. That's weight on top of your rifle, so match it to how far you actually shoot.
7. A warranty you can read. Terms here run from 1 year on the VASTFIRE kit to lifetime on Wicked housings and 5 years on Hyperion housings and modules.

What your budget buys

Every light on this list sits in the under-$500 budget tier, which is the point: a light is the cheap way into night hog hunting. By contrast, the least expensive thermal riflescopes we rank start in the $500 to $1,000 tier (see our thermal scopes under $1,000). Inside that one tier, the lights split into three groups by what they include and what their makers publish:

• Budget kits (VASTFIRE, LUMENSHOOTER, Odepro): the lowest-priced lights here when we researched, with several colors and a mount in one box but thinner published specs. Fine for close shots over a feeder.
• Wicked Lights: rheostat dimming, center-axis color changes and a published lifetime housing warranty, but no throw or runtime figures on the A75iC.
• Sniper Hog Lights Hyperion: the most published data (lumens, throw, runtime, warranty), the most adjustable mount and the longest claims, at the cost of weight and one color module per kit.

Reading throw and lumen claims

Treat every throw and lumen figure as the maker's claim. None of these makers says how it measured throw, and a yard of "visibility" on one listing isn't the same measurement as a yard of throw on another. The claims are most useful inside one maker's line, where the method is presumably the same.

The Hyperion line shows why. Sniper Hog Lights publishes the same lumens for the 40 and the 66 (400 red, 1,150 green, 1,000 white), yet claims very different reach: 1,130 vs 1,770 yards in green. The published difference tracks head size (1.75 in. vs 2.75 in.), not lumens. So lumens tell you how much light comes out; throw tells you how tightly the head focuses it. The 66's extra 640 yards of claimed green reach costs about 5 ounces. Whether that's worth it depends on how far you shoot, not on the bigger number.

Mistakes to avoid

• Scanning with the rifle. Use a handheld or headlamp to find eyes; bring the rifle up once you've identified the animal.
• Skipping the zero check after a module swap. Confirm where the beam sits on the scope before you hunt.
• Buying the longest throw claim for a feeder shot. More reach means more weight and cost on the rifle.
• Forgetting the mount. The Odepro KL52 MAX Red kit lists no scope mount, and Wicked's mounts fit 1 in. and 30 mm tubes only.
• Buying IR without night vision. An IR channel is invisible without a night-vision optic.
• Skipping the courtesy call. TPWD recommends calling your local game warden before you hunt hogs at night.
